GUARGUM

Guar traded weak as prospects of Monsoon hitting Kerala coast ahead of schedule kept trend down. Short term trend will be impacted by the Monsoon report. Rainfall prospects will be a key driving factor in upcoming sessions. Guar being a rainsensitive crop, adequate amount of rains are required for the crop. Prospects of lower production this year along with rising Crude Oil prices, leading to improved export demand could support price in near term.

TURMERIC

Turmeric found strong resistance at the 8000 mark as profit booking at the higher levels brought some dips after the earlier day recovery. Monsoon progress remains important in the near term as sowing starts in AP. Till now around 8 lakh bags (1 bag = 90 Kgs) new crop has been traded in the domestic market. Buyers preferred mostly hybrid varieties in domestic market

MENTHA OIL

Firmness persisted for Mentha Oil even as arrival pressure of the new crop continued. However, with overall production expected to fall, the downtrend may be limited. Any rains at this time would adversely affect the harvesting process in coming days. Spot demand is expected to rise in coming days.  Lower sowing reports this year had been reported due to low rates obtained last year. Summing all the facts we do believe that the short term some more dips may be there but any fall in production could support prices in the medium term

CHANA

No strong movement was noted for Chana as profit booking at the higher levels were noted. The Monsoon arrival date in Kerala remains important for this week. Prospects of rise in MSP and increased imports in coming weeks are likely to support the market sentiments in coming weeks.  Rates for Chana and Masoor in Canada have risen in view of rising imports from India. India imports nearly 40% of its Pulses requirements from Canada. During first 11 month of 2014-15 (April 2014 to Feb 15), India imported total 51.61 lakh tons pulses. Out of that, 41% (21.48 lakh tons) has been obtained from Canada
